Toyota T100 Camper

This was the first camper I built after the Camperu and HiAce Space Camper, I went with my gut and built this in full prototype mode. It was right before I started a full time Design Engineer role at Benchmark Vehicles, I knew I wanted a camper to make use of my time off once that job started so I designed and built this in less than a week. There wasn't much of a plan, just a rough concept and function that had been sitting in my brain for a while.

It’s made using Baltic birch with a lacquer finish, in 4 modules that connect with insert nuts and machine screws, so the whole thing assembles, disassembles, and installs in about 30 minutes with just a screwdriver. Everything locks down so it stays put even on rough trails.

It also did surprisingly well online, one of the install videos got reposted with over 500,000 views across different channels. That response is actually what spurred the Field Campers idea, I needed to design it in CAD and produced mostly with a CNC as there was no way I was going to be making them one off this way.

I ended up selling the truck, which I still regret. To a local and right and near my favorite bottle shop though, so I do know it’s still alive and well every time I drive past.
